All the Hearts for All the Kids

All the Hearts for All the Kids

The City of Fullerton will be wearing its heart…er, hearts…on its sleeve in September and October in an effort to raise funds for art programs for children.

Beginning Friday, Sept. 3, 18 over-sized heart sculptures began appearing on streets and medians in downtown Fullerton as part of a special fund-raising campaign titled “All the Hearts for All the Kids.”

The campaign is sponsored by the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation, which funds art programs in Fullerton elementary schools.

A special public preview of all 18 hearts was held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Fullerton Museum Center, 301 N. Pomona Ave., one block east of Harbor Boulevard. View the photo gallery on our Facebook page.

The hearts, each decorated by a different local artist, have been placed on selected medians and paved areas between Commonwealth and Chapman avenues, in the downtown.

Some of the hearts will then be sold to the highest bidders Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Foundation’s annual “Pins, Pots and Possibilities” fund-raising auction. Other hearts will be sold online as early as the week of Sept. 13.  See the All the Hearts for All the Kids websitehttp://www.alltheartsforallthekids.org/, for details.

The Fullerton City Council approved placement of the hearts in the downtown.Funding for the program was provided by the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation.
